not long after we got her.

URLIUP BEAGLES (pronounced "Early-Up")  had it's beginnings in 1983 when we purchased our first Beagle. We called her "Lucy" after the Peanuts character of the same name but her "official" name was Barqueland Berenice (eventually she got to add a "CH" in front of it).

I was talked into showing her and from that moment on life was never to be the same. Despite her novice handler (moi...) "Lucy" was consistently placed and achieved several BOB's on the way to her title.

We registered the prefix in 1984, it was one of many submitted to the then R.A.S.K.C. We thought it rather appropriate as at that time we were both commutting to Sydney and had to be up at 5am each morning.

"Lucy" had her first litter in 1984 (to Ch. Manahound Match Point) from which I kept a dog and a bitch puppy.  The dog - "Archie" (Ch. Urliup Arch Rival) along with "Buddy" (Ch. Urliup Bugle Boy) - from "Lucy's" second litter (to Ch. Donlee Bramble, a Match Point son) became the foundation for all my breeding.

In all she produced five champions (including a Specialty B.I.S. winner) and she is behind countless more. What more could we have asked?

To date (March 2003) there have been thirteen Urliup Champions, including Specialty B.I.S., R.U.B.I.S. and Royal  B.O.B and C.C. winners, and we have campaigned three others to their title. We are proud of the achievements of this relatively small kennel and  will continue to aim for sound, typical beagles that are not only 'pretty pictures' and great companions but can do the job that they are bred for.....

I am currently a member of the R.N.S.W. Canine Council Ltd and The Beagle Club of N.S.W. Inc.. In 1993 I became a licensed Beagle judge and have had the pleasure of judging at several shows including the Beagle Club of South Australia specialty in 1997.
